Vacation Part 7: Coming Home

We left Maine around 5pm to head back to Maryland. Around 6pm we stopped in Augusta to have dinner at Red Robin. Zak loved his meal because we got them chicken on a stick, but he used the stick to dip into the BBQ sauce instead of eating the chicken. Then we got back in the car to drive more. Around 8pm I gave the boys a cup of milk we had in the cooler and they fell asleep. They actually slept for the whole ride after that other than whining a bit each time we stopped at a rest area. I stayed awake the whole ride home except for the last 25 minutes. We stopped at a bunch of the rest areas so Ben could get out and stretch. Finally at about 5am we pulled into our parking spot in front of the house. We gave the boys some more milk and they went back to sleep so we could get a few hours of sleep.

I ran some errands on Saturday morning (pick up mail, grocery store, BJ's) while Ben and the boys stayed home. Around 10:30am Rich & Laura brought the dogs back to us. They also had Haleigh with them so Ben took some pictures of her with the boys....

It rained enough while we were away
to fill the baby pool

Robin was knocked out from playing with
her boyfriend Sam all week

We Are Home

We made it home from Maine around 5am this morning. The boy did great for the ride and slept from about 8pm until we got home and then they laid down and slept until about 8am. Today I need to go pick up our mail from the post office, make a trip to BJ's, and a trip to the grocery store. Rich & Laura are bringing the dogs to us this morning also.

I have a TON of pictures so I am going to split them up into different posts so look for several posts throughout the day today...

New Hampsire & Maine

I am sending this post from my cell phone so hopefully it will work. I will have to wait to post pictures when we get home.

We had a good time in New Hampshire. On Saturday we were able to see the campground which is a pretty neat cabin. That evening we had dinner with Greg, Lisa, Peggy, and Irwin along with Lisa's parents. Sunday we drove to Andrea's house to visit with her along with Jade and Ben's grandmother. The boys had a blast playing with Jade and the dogs. After dinner we got back in the car and headed up to Maine.

We arrived in Maine close to 8:45pm. Once the car was unloaded we walked across the street (dirt path really) to see the fire they had in the fireplace which Zak was scared to death of. The boys slept pretty well last night.

Today we have just been letting the boys run around and play because there is a ton of open space. We made a quick trip to the grocery store and then had fresh lobster for lunch. It was caught this morning and in my tummy by 1pm! Zak decided not to nap, but Ryder did sleep well this afternoon. Ginnie got here this afternoon so we will get to visit with her all week. Tonight we are having a cook out with some family.

3 Hours and Counting...

The boys and Ben are in bed (not asleep yet though) while I stay up playing online and doing last minute things. We plan to leave here at midnight to make the drive to New Hampshire. We have the car packed and it looks like we plan to be gone for months! We only have 2 suitcases of clothes, but the rest includes food, toys, golf clubs, pack-n-plays and so much more. There is also lots of medicines, inhalers, the nebulizer and so on because I learned after our last trip to Florida that it never fails and somebody always gets sick. With it being flu season and the whole swine flu thing I want to be safe and bring everything we might need. I am keeping my fingers crossed that everybody stays healthy, but you never know. I also packed lots of hand sanitizer to use after stopping at rest areas and just to use in general. Call me paranoid, but with Zak's recent blood results and our track record for illness I just want to play it safe!

I have figured out how to post updates with pictures here on the blog as well as Facebook using my cell phone.

Pictures

The last few days we have been busy packing and getting things ready for our vacation next week. It has finally arrived...we leave around midnight tonight to drive to NH. We will be in NH Saturday and Sunday then drive to ME late Sunday night. Then we will be in ME Monday-Friday and drive home late Friday night (get home Saturday sometime). I will try to update with pictures on here while we are away, but not sure how successful I will be using my cell phone to do this.

Now for some pictures from the last few days....

Being helpful at the grocery store
Yesterday morning I took the boys to the playground for a while. It was chilly out, but a great time to go because only 1 other person was there.

Spray Bottle Fun

Zak loves to play with spray bottles. He likes to walk around and spray everything and everyone! So today I decided to try and focus his interest of spraying into something more productive than just spraying me. I put some green food coloring with the water into the spray bottle and let him spray coffee filters. He loved this! He thought it was so neat to have the white filters turn green. After a while he did start to spray all of us so I cleaned out the spray bottle and filled it up with clean water.

Not sure if you can tell from the pictures, but we gave the boys a haircut last night. They were cute with their longer hair, but I love them with short hair. I think after this we will let it grow out for the winter.

Halloween Costume Ideas

Ben and I have started thinking about ideas for what the boys should dress up as for Halloween. We have come up with lots of ideas, but none that we fell in love with. Leave a comment with ideas for costumes for the boys. Some things the family have come up with so far...

Tweedle Dee & Tweedle Dum
Scarecrow & Tin Min
Thing 1 & Thing 2
Fireman & Police Officer
Superman & Batman
Batman & Robin
Angel (or Saint) & Devil

So let me know if you like any of these or if you have other ideas.

Lots of Pictures

I left my camera in Annapolis the other day and picked it up yesterday so here are some pictures from the last few days....

Our shopping trip this morning
Feeding the ducks in Annapolis
Playing baseball in Annapolis
Ryder with Ben
A few pictures of Maddie
Cute picture of the boys
Ryder was crying so Zak gave him a hug & kiss
This week we will be busy packing for our trip to NH and ME along with trying to clean the house so that it is not a mess when we get home. The dogs will be staying with Rich & Laura so we know they will have fun playing with their dogs for the week.
Today we are going to the Verizon store to upgrade Ben's cell phone along with our calling plan. We will be getting the newer plan with the mobile web, e-mail, Vcast, and VZ navigator. This means I will be able to update the blog and Face book with pictures during our vacation along with being able to make changes to our Fantasy Football leagues. Yes, Ben has gotten me turned on to the Fantasy thing. It is fun and gives me a reason to watch the games with him which he enjoys. We would both love to get a Blackberry, but those plans are way too expensive so that will have to wait for a while.
